How I Started

With over 20 years of experience as a special educator in both the Ithaca City School District and Dryden Central School District, I have spent my career creating inclusive, accessible, and meaningful learning opportunities for student of all backgrounds.

My Teaching Journey

Teaching has always been my calling. As a child, I would rush home from school, grab my red and white duffle bag filled with handmade manipulative and customized lessons, and head to my neighbors' houses to tutor. Even then, I knew my passion was in providing individualized education that helped each learner grow. This passion only deepened as I pursued advanced education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Special Education, a Master of Science in Secondary Education for Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, five New York State teaching certifications, and completing extensive CTLE credits in The Science of Reading Fundamentals.

Transition to Homeschooling & Farm Education

After years of classroom teaching, I chose to leave the traditional school setting to homeschool my own children. This decision allows me to expand my focus by creating educational and enrichment opportunities on our family farm. I believe that some of the richest learning happens through real-life, hands-on experiences, and authenticity is at the core of my approach to education.

A Whole-Child Approach

The most transformative lessons I've learned have come from my personal experiences. As a foster parent, adoptive parent, and mother to neurodiverse children, I've gained invaluable insights into trauma-informed, individualized, and culturally responsive teaching practices. Collaborating with families from diverse backgrounds has deepened my understanding of the unique needs of each learner.

Life on the Farm

When I'm not teaching, I'm cherishing life on our family farm. I love horseback riding and drinking tea with my chickens. Surrounded by an every-growing community of four-legged friends, my farm provides a natural, joyful backdrop for learning. My animals often make guest appearances during educational sessions, adding a fun, hands-on element to the experience.
